His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa

His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa initiated the reincarnation system in Tibet in the Twelfth Century CE. He has manifested 16 reincarnations since then. The present Karmapa is the 17^th. Originally, he is the activity of all the Buddhas. In this world, he is infinitely connected to the Mahasiddhas of India and Tibet as an authentic highly realized being, and thus he has been benefiting countless beings.

The Karmapa was quite young when he made his famous escape from the Chinese in Tibet. Now he is residing in Dharamsala, India at the Gyuto Monastery. He is dedicated to restoring Buddhism in Tibet. His main activity is saving and protecting the environment. Every year, he is engaged in the Monlam Festival in Bodhgaya, India. Buddhists from all over the world come to see him and receive his blessing. He is the head of the Kagyu lineage to which KDK belongs.
